Casey Grace Murphy, born on April 25, 1996, is an exceptional American professional soccer player.

She is renowned for her goalkeeping prowess with the North Carolina Courage in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and her contributions to the United States women’s national soccer team.

Her soccer journey began at the tender age of five. By the time she was ten, she found her true passion as a goalkeeper.

Hailing from Bridgewater Township, New Jersey, Casey attended Bridgewater-Raritan High School.

She showcased her skills both in soccer and basketball. Her dedication and talent led her to train with the Players Development Academy (PDA) Slammers, an Elite Clubs National League team. There she achieved a U17 national championship.

Casey’s college career at Rutgers University further solidified her reputation as a standout goalkeeper.

Playing for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights until 2017, she garnered numerous accolades. This included two Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year awards, two All-Big Ten First Team selections, and two All-Region First Team honors.

Her exceptional talent was also acknowledged with a nomination as a 2017 MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist.

With 45 clean sheets during her college tenure, she became Rutgers’ all-time leader for career shutouts and ranked second in Big Ten history.

In her professional journey, Casey’s talent took her overseas to Montpellier HSC in France’s Division 1 Féminine in January 2018.

She impressed everyone with her performances, earning the Division 1 Best Keeper Award. She secured a spot in the league’s Best XI as recognized by French media.

Additionally, she was named goalkeeper of the year in Division 1 Féminine by the French Football Federation in May 2018.

After her international stint, Casey returned to the United States and joined Reign FC (later known as OL Reign) in May 2019.

In October 2020, she was traded to the North Carolina Courage, where she continues to showcase her remarkable goalkeeping abilities.

Casey’s journey in the United States women’s national soccer team is equally impressive.

She has represented the country at various youth levels, including U14, U15, U18, U20, and U23.

She notably participated in the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup as a starter for the United States under-20 national team.

Her hard work and dedication finally paid off when she received her first call-up to the senior United States women’s national soccer team in June 2018 for a set of friendlies against China PR.

She made her debut for the senior team on November 26, 2021. Making a 3–0 victory against the Australia women’s national soccer team, Casey earned player of the match honors with a clean sheet.
