Lynn Raenie Williams, born on May 21, 1993, is an exceptional American professional soccer player. She is renowned for her skills as a forward, both in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) with NJ/NY Gotham FC and on the United States national team.

Throughout her career, she has showcased her talent with remarkable performances for various teams, including the Kansas City Current, Western New York Flash, Western Sydney Wanderers, and Melbourne Victory in the Australian A-League Women.

Early Life and Education Originally from Fresno, California, Lynn attended Bullard High School.  There she displayed her soccer prowess by earning all-league and all-area honors all four years.

She etched her name in school history by setting the record for scoring 117 career goals, a feat achieved by few boys or girls.

Lynn’s high school career also boasted an impressive 47 assists. Her standout senior year, during which she scored 50 goals, helped lead her team to victory in the county and section titles, making them runners-up at the regional final.

For her exceptional contributions, Lynn was honored as the Player of the Year by the Fresno Bee.

Continuing her soccer journey, Lynn attended Pepperdine University from 2011 to 2014, representing the Waves.

In her freshman season, she made an impact by starting in all 20 games and securing third place on the team with six goals and eight assists, ranking second with 20 points.

Lynn’s remarkable performance earned her several accolades, including the West Coast Conference (WCC) Freshman of the Year and recognition as a Soccer America Freshman All-American.

Her sophomore year saw Lynn leading the Waves, ranking third on the team and sixth in the league for goals (8) and points (19).

She topped the WCC in shots (97) and shots per game (4.6) for the second consecutive season.

Lynn’s standout performance earned her more honors, including being named to the NSCAA All-West Region and All-WCC first teams.

During the 2013 season, Lynn continued her impressive form, contributing 11 goals and 3 assists before missing the last few games due to injury.

She once again topped the WCC in goals per game (0.73) and points per game (1.67). Lynn received various honors for her exceptional performance and was named the WCC Player of the Week on multiple occasions.

Lynn’s professional career commenced in 2015 when she was selected as the sixth overall pick by the Western New York Flash in the NWSL College Draft.

During her debut season, she scored four goals in 17 appearances. The following year, Lynn made a significant impact as she scored an impressive 11 goals, tying for the most in the league with Kealia Ohai.

She was awarded the Golden Boot and named the 2016 NWSL Most Valuable Player. Lynn’s performance helped the Flash secure a spot in the NWSL Championship Game, where they emerged victorious.

In 2017, Lynn continued her success, scoring 9 goals for North Carolina Courage and contributing to their Shield victory.

The following year was equally successful, with Lynn tallying 14 goals, tied for second-best in the league. She played a vital role in leading the Courage to win the NWSL Championship in 2018.

Lynn’s talent extended beyond the NWSL, as she took a loan to play for W-League club Western Sydney Wanderers in Australia in 2019.

She later joined Melbourne Victory as a guest player on a month-long loan in 2021.

Lynn moved to the Kansas City Current through a trade with the North Carolina Courage.

Unfortunately, she suffered a right leg injury during the season, forcing her to miss the remainder of the 2022 NWSL season.

In January 2023, Lynn was traded to Gotham FC from the Kansas City Current during the NWSL Draft.

Lynn’s exceptional performances in the NWSL earned her a call-up to the United States women’s national team in 2016.

Her debut match saw her score the fastest debut goal in team history, just 49 seconds after entering the game.

She continued to impress, scoring crucial goals and contributing significantly to the team’s successes, including winning the SheBelieves Cup and CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

Lynn’s fiancé, Marley Biyendolo, also shares her passion for soccer. Beyond the field, Lynn co-hosts a podcast about women’s soccer called Snacks, produced by Just Women’s Sports.

Television and Film Lynn is set to appear in an upcoming Netflix documentary series, capturing the journey of the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team as they compete in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
