2023 Belgian Grand Prix

Red Bull Triumphs at 2023 Belgian Grand Prix: Trophy Mishap and Unyielding Team Spirit

Red Bull secured a remarkable 1-2 victory at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit during the 2023 Belgian Grand Prix. Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez led the charge.

However, the celebratory mood took a humorous turn when their hard-earned $45,000 trophy, meticulously crafted over six months, was accidentally broken during the post-race festivities.

The team’s pit board toppled onto the prestigious constructors’ trophy, leaving it in ruins and prompting laughter among the Red Bull members, including Verstappen and team principal Christian Horner.

This unfortunate incident marked the second time in just a few weeks that Red Bull encountered trouble with their trophies.

At the Hungarian Grand Prix, Lando Norris of McLaren unintentionally broke Verstappen’s winning trophy during podium celebrations.

That led to a swift apology from Norris and a promise from the Hungarian GP organizers to replace it with a new one.

In a heartwarming gesture, the dependable garage technician, Greg Reeson, was chosen to accept the Belgian GP constructors’ trophy from the podium.

Horner praised Reeson as a symbol of the team’s tireless effort in achieving an unblemished streak of 12 victories in 2023.

Max Verstappen’s dominant performance in Belgium secured his eighth consecutive victory in the season.

This placed him just one win away from matching Sebastian Vettel’s all-time record of nine straight victories in 2013.

Charles Leclerc of Ferrari secured the third position, finishing 32 seconds behind Perez.

As the F1 season heads into its summer break, the drivers and teams will recharge.
